Personally I was told by my ex that I was her soul mate. Its a long story but basically the point is that some people will tell their partner that they are their soul mate when they are in the honeymoon phase of the relationship! So their realisation may not be that accurate because they are sooo into each other. Its not hard to find your soul mate. You have to know what you want, be ready for that person and the universe does the rest if you take action when the opportunity arises. I agree that you have to fall in love with yourself first before anyone else.
