The world is filled with positive, inspirational stories; but mainstream media doesn’t seem too keen on sharing them. So, I want to start this week off by sharing a few inspiring videos that motivate, uplift and encourage us to live the lives of our dreams no matter what obstacles show up along the way.
Please enjoy these inspirational stories and feel free to recommend your own personal favorites.
John O’Leary – Motivation for Overcoming the Unthinkable
As a child, 100% of John’s body was burned with a deadly mixture of fire and gasoline. Doctors gave him a 1% chance of survival—and he IS that 1%.
John is now a husband, an adventurer, and a motivational speaker who inspires people to overcome their fears, believe in the unbelievable, and live life with gratitude for what we have in the now.
Randy Pausch – Inspirational Story of Living While Dying
When Carnegie Melon professor Randolph Pausch was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, he was at the height of his career, a father of 3 young children, and an adoring husband. The grim diagnosis gave him every reason to have a miserable and depressed outlook on life, yet Randy did the opposite.
He gave an inspirational speech that touched the lives of people all across the world. It wasn’t the speech of a dying man. Instead, The Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams is filled with inspiring guidance for living life. The video here is Randy’s summary of his last lecture as presented on Oprah.
Ben Underwood – Inspiration Against the Odds
Imagine a person with no eyes who lives his life to the fullest as if he can see. That person is Ben Underwood. At 3 years old, he lost his eyes to cancer; but his mother repeatedly reminded him of the abilities that he had left. Ben took his mother’s positive outlook to a new level. “I don’t consider myself blind,” he boasts.
Ben taught himself to see with sound by using echolocation. Bike riding, skating, book writing, basketball, video games, school, surfing, running up and down the stairs—he does it all. And Ben does not use a guide dog or a cane.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t help but feel inspired when observing how Ben and his family approach what the world considers a severe handicap.
Note: Ben Underwood passed away from cancer at the age of 16, but he lived life more fully than many people do in 100 years.
Wim Hof – Mind Over Matter With the Iceman
At first glance, Wim seems like an average guy. He has no missing limbs or senses, but he has made an interesting discovery about the power of his mind.
Wim controls his internal thermostat with his mind, producing heat at will and withstanding freezing temperatures in a way that is medically impossible.
Wim’s story should motivate us all and give us reason to ask, Why Not? Just because the facts and the proof state that something is impossible or unrealistic, does that make it so?
I hope you’ve enjoyed my top 4 positive inspirational stories. Now, please share some motivating, inspiring videos or information of your own.
