This is a list of 45 simple ways to improve your life. Nothing drastic. Nothing requiring years of therapy or hard work. Just minor changes that have major effects. You can apply these tips now to immediately add more  joy, positivity, and zest to your life.

  1. Hug as many people as you can each day.
  2. Laugh until you cry.
  3. Get plenty of sunshine. Too much time indoors is depressing.
  4. Practice positive affirmations.
  5. Do something childish—coloring, playing ball, making dirt patties.
  6. Be nice to someone who’s being nasty.
  7. Look for the value in everything and everyone.
  8. Record yourself speaking thoughts of gratitude and appreciation—and listen to it often.
  9. Practice the art of mindfulness.
  10. Embrace your imperfections.
  11. Release grudges and resentment.
  12. Change the T.V. channel to something lighthearted, funny, or touching.
  13. Take yourself less seriously.
  14. Laugh at yourself.
  15. Build a sandcastle with someone you love.
  16. Fall in love with yourself.
  17. Tell friends and family that you love them. Don’t assume they just know it.
  18. Meditate to clear your mind and alleviate stress.
  19. Surround yourself with positive people.
  20. Appreciate the life lessons in your mistakes.
  21. Take a chance on something that frightens you.
  22. Venture away from your daily routine.
  23. Eat until you’re satisfied rather than full.
  24. Accept others fully—just as they are.
  25. Take a spontaneous road trip.
  26. Find a way to make a living doing what you love.
  27. Listen to uplifting music.
  28. Show respect for yourself and others.
  29. Listen more. Talk less.
  30. Let the tears flow when you feel them coming. Crying is okay.
  31. Dedicate some time to a special cause.
  32. Acknowledge what’s special about you.
  33. Look in the mirror and say, “I love you. You are worthy.”
  34. Accessorize every outfit with a smile.
  35. Dress to impress yourself.
  36. Get your anger out safely but completely.
  37. Get moving. Remain as active as possible for as long as possible.
  38. Never stop challenging yourself.
  39. Remove the word failure from your vocabulary.
  40. Reach out to help a stranger.
  41. Keep your word.
  42. Practice heightening your senses. Listen intently, smell everything, and touch with your eyes closed.
  43. Think more about what you want than what you don’t want.
  44. Express your emotions.
  45. Discover the bright side of everything.

Nea, what a nice list to paste beside the morning mirror or on the monitor.

Of all the effective list you have provided here, listening to uplifting music has been one of my greatest source of joy. There’s something about music that speaks deep into my heart. :-)

Dear Nea, this is BEAUTIFUL. A wise (and fun) list to live by. There are so many good ones here, but I really love #13 and #14: Take yourself less seriously. AND Laugh at yourself. I think I like these as we humans tend to take ourselves sooooooooo seriously all the time. My husband is great at finding the humor in even the hardest of times. He creates it. And I love him for it. I do it now too. It’s not that we can’t have a serious conversation, because we can and do, but it’s our laughter that gets us through challenging times.

Your list here is a wonderful reflection of your vitality.
So beautiful.
Hugs to you dear one.
Robin

Thank you Robin. Your relationship with your husband sounds like one to be truly admired. That’s so very encouraging to me. As always, thanks for sharing your positive presence here. So much love to you.

What a nice list. I don’t do most of these nearly enough, and I need to get cracking on it. Luckily, I do some of these on a regular basis, so I figure that means I’m not all that bad. :-)
