7 Links Challenge

in Self Improvement Ideas

I’m joining in on the fun to take on the  7 links challenge for bloggers posted by Darren of Problogger. Although the Self Improvement Saga blog is still very new, looking back over the last several months is a lot of fun.

1. My First Blog Post

I must admit that it’s slightly painful to look back at the quality of my first post.  When I published Why No Means Yes for Law of Attraction, I was just getting a feel for blogging.  I had a love for writing and a mind full of ideas that I wanted to express, but I was otherwise clueless. Note the total lack of formatting.

2. The Post I Enjoyed Writing The Most

It felt awesome to write Positive Reflection and Appreciation for the Past.  I’d been harboring mixed emotions about my only daughter becoming a woman.  As a person who rarely puts her deepest feelings on display, sharing this post with my readers was like inhaling fresh oxygen after leaving a smoky building.  Relief!

3. A Post With Great Discussion

My blog was still very new, but the post Why You Shouldn’t Keep It Real managed to spark interesting discussion.  The post was actually a lesson on unrealistic living, something that is way outside of many people’s comfort zone.

In addition to the comments, I received messages on Facebook and StumbleUpon from people who either strongly agreed or strongly disagreed.

4. A Post On Someone Else’s Blog I Wish I’d Written

I’ll have to go with the post Planting Thought Seeds by Steven Aitchison.  This post is so in alignment with everything that I believe about how we can create the life of our dreams. I love the creativity and the amazing energy.

5. A Post With A Title I’m Proud Of

Coming up with titles for posts is definitely not my strong suit, but I stepped out with boldness in Why People Lie So Damn Much.  I’m proud of this daring title because it is outside of my personal comfort zone, yet I did it. Woo hoo!

6. A Post That I Wish More People Had Read

Because I believe understanding and love for each other (despite our differences) is the key for us all to live happier lives, I wish more people had read Take a Deeper Look. The post ties in a life lesson on understanding using the Disney movie Brother Bear.

7. My Most Visited Post

The popularity of 20 Argument Tactics to Avoid took me by surprise. People flocked to the site like crazy and this post still gets more views than any other post on the blog.

To my blogger friends: Don’t forget to take on this 7 links challenge if you haven’t already.

Hi,
I think we all have a desire to be better communicators, do you think that’s why that one was so popular? I hope it wasn’t so people would learn how to win an argument.
Good for you for taking the challenge.

Hi there Tess. The post focused on controlling yourself and communicating in a way that doesn’t use ineffective communication tactics. So, yes, I think that most people were interested for the right reasons. Anyone looking for information on winning an argument would’ve been sorely disappointed.

Hi Neaj

I have read a lot of the 7 link challenges. I think that is is a wonderful way to let people new to your site find out more about the gems within it.

My favorite was positive reflection and appreciation. As a mum of a grown up daughter I could totally relate to it.

I think you have just found a new reader :-)

Hi Marion. It’s awesome that you could relate to the Positive Reflection post. It won’t be long before my daughter is grown up like yours. I just keep reminding myself of what an amazing blessing she has always been. Love and hugs to you!

Positive reflection is great.
We have to spread and share the good!

Hey Nea, great to see that you took on the challenge. It’s great to see where other bloggers were at in the past and how they began. Do you ever look at past posts and think about where you’ve come in terms of your writing ability?

Hi Amit. The challenge was a lot of fun. And yes…I noticed a ton about the changes in my writing. My writing style became more personable and engaging as the blog matured. It felt so good to look back and see the progress.
