“Listen, are you breathing just a little and calling it a life?” Mary Oliver
Your Extraordinary Life
Life is extraordinary. So extraordinary, in fact, that there are absolutely no ordinary moments.
It’s time to awaken from your mundane, boring life. No more walking dead. Look around with child-like vision to see the truth. What is the truth?
The truth is that today and every day is filled with extraordinary life experiences that would knock you off your feet if you hadn’t learned to take them for granted. The truth is: There are no ordinary moments.
Somewhere out there…
A child is being born. That new life enters this world—seen, embraced and swaddled in blankets for the very first time.
A beautiful sunset captivates all who aren’t too busy to notice.
Someone cries tears of joy as a loved one bounces back from the grip of death despite the grimmest odds.
A young girl bursts with nervous excitement at the moment of her first kiss.
The moon and stars perfectly light the night sky.
A cool breeze is blowing, soothing and refreshing on a hot, summer day.
A young man’s heart pounds as he kneels before the one he loves to ask for her hand in marriage.
A farmer’s prayers for rain were just answered.
A helping hand is changing a life forever.
A grandma shares her last moments with the ones she loves.
At this very moment…
Someone’s faith in miracles has been restored.
Vehicles defy gravity as they fly through the sky like birds, quickly transporting hundreds of people to visit loved ones and enjoy sites hundreds of miles away from home.
A little one, filled with curiosity and wonder, takes his first steps as mom and dad cheer him on.
The safety of a hug brightens someone’s day.
A flower blooms, sharing its beauty perfectly and timelessly.
Someone is laughing so hard that a tear falls from her eye.
A kind smile warms someone’s heart.
A dog helps his blind owner to function in a world built for sight.
Somebody’s baby, all grown up now, walks across a stage, receiving the diploma that symbolizes years of hard work and accomplishment.
With so much to see, why close your eyes?
Life is extraordinary. It is only your attention, your lack or true presence, which may blur your view.
Do yourself a favor. Give up your humdrum existence and choose to live life fully, vividly, joyfully, extraordinarily.
There really are no ordinary moments.

I first came across this concept when I read that “when a grain of sand shifts, a polar bear sneezes”.
But you phrased it a lot better here Nea
Hi Stuart. It’s just as wonderful no matter how we verbalize it. Now if only we can all remember to take such a perspective on life each day.
Life is most definitely extraordinary! Thank you for this inspirational post.
Have you ever experienced a moment in your life when you just ran out of words and you go silent…
* the moment when you left your home for the first time and you look back at your parents who are worried that their son/daughter are leaving them yet happy that their child took the first step towards independence.
* the moment when the girl/boy you like most.. smiled back at you! you don’t say anything.. you just smile back
* the moment when you get better marks than you expected… those “numb” moments of ecstasy n surprise “is that true?”
At one point or another, we have all known and felt a happy moment. We may have varying definitions of what happiness means but deep down, it is the moments in life that create the life journey.
Beautiful article.
We all need to hold on to our childish enthusiasm or life would be so boring.
