“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’”

Where is Your Courage?

Hello dear courageous friend. Do I refer to you in a way that you don’t see yourself?  Do you regard yourself as the courageous person you are?

Courage comes in so many forms, many of which you embody.  So, what is courage? Who has courage? Do you have courage?

Maybe you haven’t jumped from an airplane, donated an organ or saved a drowning child.  Maybe you’ve never stood up to a gun-bearing criminal or body slammed a bully.  But courage is so much more.

Every moment outside of your comfort zone is an act of courage. The times when you’re too tired to lift a finger yet you lend a helping hand; when your life is falling apart, yet you stop to help a friend.  That, my friend, is courage.

Leaving a relationship with someone you thought you couldn’t live without; opening your broken heart to take a chance on love again.  Pushing your pride aside to admit you’re wrong.  Letting the tears flow when you’d rather pretend to be okay; climbing mountains of stress to make it to a better day. That is courage.

Should you ever find yourself feeling weak or fragile, turn your thoughts to a time of courage.  Focus, if only for a few moments, on the courage it’s taken to reach the place where you are in this moment.

No matter who you are, you know what it’s like to push through bad days. You’ve had times when you felt weary, helpless and insecure.  You’ve had days when life seemed like a cruel joke, and you had every reason to give up.  But you are still here.  You’re still alive and trying, finding something to smile about, giving this world a chance. Who has courage? You have courage.

Even if you’re experiencing a tough time in your life right now, realize that there is something special about you.  There is something courageous about you. Instead of measuring your traits by those of others, appreciate your individuality as a gift to the world.  Dramatic courage, subtle courage—it is courage nonetheless.  Give yourself the praise, respect and recognition that you deserve.

You reached this day by showing courage and I hope you feel inspired to exemplify this trait even more in the future.

So, what is courage? You.

Who has courage? You.

Move forward. Courageously dream, live, and climb every hurdle that gets in your way.

I think courage stands for always letting go. Never being comfortable. Let fear take a seat while you stand for your dreams. Fear is a tool. Be strong and stand for something rather than falling for anything. Great post!

Thank you Jonathan. Fear is indeed a tool. It can be used to build the strongest of character.

I love the picture of that lazy lion – so cute. A few days ago my sister and I gave the eulogy at our mother’s funeral. Walking up to the micorphone took courage. Looking out into the crowd sobbing at our words, and not breaking down ourselves – that took more courage that we knew that we had. Sometimes you just have to decide to not let fear get in the way.

Tracy,
I’m sorry to hear that you experienced such a painful loss. To stand vulnerable in front of everyone at one of the worst times of your life takes an astounding amount of courage. And you did it. I’m sure your mother is unbelievable proud of you and your sister. My heart goes out to you both and I wish you peace of mind during your time of grief.

Hey Nea!

Great post! Courage is a massive trait of persistence and character! It can be hard to build, such as self-confidence, but once you experience courage, it becomes an addiction, a healthy one at that too! : )

Thanks!

Thanks so much for commenting, Mike. Courage is indeed a wonderful trait. I believe that the more we see ourselves as courageous, the more will display that courage and take it to another level.

Thank you for this post!

I am honestly facing some serious predicament right now and reading this post surely gives me a better understanding on how I go about with my decision.

I think being able to decide on something when faced with a very difficult situation is courage.

Great post and at a terrific time! I couldn’t agree with you more when you say the individuality is a gift to the world and it’s a shame that so many people forget this! Many people believe that displaying courage is the equivalent to wrestling a bear, but courage is displayed in many different ways! As a college student, I know I face multiple times through out the day that require courage. Thanks for the uplifting post!

Hello Nea :)
Thank you very much for such an inspiring wonderful post, are we having the same day?
The below paragraphs are exactly what I have been passing through these last two days:
“Every moment outside of your comfort zone is an act of courage.

That is courage.”
THANK YOU :)

I think the experiences that most people are having are more similar than we realize. We often feel alone in our struggles, but there would be such comfort if we realized that the person next to us is dealing with something he’s simply not talking about.

Wonderful quote and post. Just what I needed at this moment in my life. I know I have courage – and lots of it – but I’m going through a critical time in my life with a lot of disruption, and for once, my courage was failing me. Thanks.

We all experience those trying times, but the courage is within. Sometimes all you need is a simple reminder to help you get tuned in to a more pleasant reality. Thanks for commenting, Penelope. I hope you’ll come back often.
